Welcome to Morning Coffee Theology!
First things first: why the name? It’s simple really. I have found that my best moments of epiphany have come through morning coffee sessions. Be it an early morning discussion with friends at the local cafe, a time to myself in the creaky leather chair, or a late morning chat with my wife; there is something intrinsically special about mornings, theology, and coffee! These times seem to transcend the common niceties and bush-beating affiliated with “theological discussion” and gets right to the heart of what we really care about in our daily lives.
Another valid interpretation of MCT is that the spiritual charge you get from reading the posts herein deliver such a theological punch that it negates any need for a morning coffee buzz.
Regardless, the mission is simple: to encourage and exhort others by making complex theology palatable and/or “regular” theology practical.
Readers are free–encouraged–to discuss, challenge, comment and ask questions. Thanks for visiting MCT and enjoy the buzz while it lasts.
My first point of challenge with your theology… I have no desire to replace my coffee buzz with spiritual fervor, instead I plan on marrying them together for greater enlightement. God made coffee beans for a reason!
I like your all inclusive approach to life; a valid outlook indeed. My only fear is that your introductory syncretistic practices could result in apostasy and/or idol worship; i.e. worshiping Yahweh on the high places.
That being said, it’s worth a shot.
I must digress… in my opinion, the phenomonology of spiritual experience must be dissociated from the physiological affects of narcotics… to encourage or to propose hybridity on this (especially as a matter of necessity) is to cheapen the Spirit’s work and put into question His ability to interesect our lives supernaturally. I get High by God and I don’t need anything else.
That’s true that’s true.
